Our Leadership Team
Justin Simpkins - Chief Operating Officer

Justin guides the overall direction of JSA with a particular focus on creating a unique and rewarding client experience. Having previously served as the Senior Risk Manager, Justin has built a substantial portion of the Company’s book of business and finds the most important part of his job is to nurture client relationships. Prior to JSA (2012), Justin was part of the team that launched the first ever private crop revenue insurance product (GARS). Once established, Justin expanded his career by relocating to Australia to launch a similar product as the National Sales Manager. Justin obtained a B.A. in Business Administration (Marketing) and is also a licensed insurance broker in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta.

Miranda Miller - Chief Financial Officer

Miranda oversees the financial reporting, forecasting and internal underwriting and finance processes of the company. Previous to Just Solutions, she served as Finance Manager for a publicly traded hard rock mining operation with Operations in North and South America and primarily involved in financial reporting, internal audit and providing guidance to the regulatory markets including Securities Exchange Commission and World Gold Council. Miranda obtained a BComm (Management) from Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan and later spent 6 years auditing oil and gas companies in Calgary, Alberta while articling at MNP LLP where she obtained her CA, CPA designation in 2016.

Erica Gust - Chief Underwriting Officer 

Erica leads the underwriting team and is directly involved in the underwriting processes at JSA, following 2 years of training under our former CUO, Amber McCrystal. Erica compliments the JSA client relationship model with her strong audit background and significant leadership experience from her previous positions held at Canada Revenue Agency and industry operations. Erica obtained her Business Accountancy diploma with distinction and has several years experience managing teams and enhancing the client relationship experience.

Michelle McNabb - Administration Manager

Michelle oversees the Administration team and ensures the Underwriting and Risk Management teams consistently provide the best possible client experience throughout the crop cycle. As one of the original employees of JSA, she brings significant value to the team for her knowledge of the company’s growth since inception in 2009. Michelle has extensive experience in the insurance industry and is a licensed broker in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta.

Kerby Court - Technology & Underwriting 

Kerby leads the initial client interactions of the Underwriting process and works diligently to safeguard, gather, and process critical information for the entire JSA book of business. With his evolving personal interest in the latest technology and software systems, Kerby provides an invaluable service to turn the data into meaningful information and assist Management and the board to make sound, well informed decisions. Kerby completed an undergrad in Broadcast Communications from Pacific Lutheran University, followed by an undergrad in Education (History) followed by a Masters (Leadership) at Trinity Western University.

Brent Wiens - Manager of Risk Management

After completing BA at Briercrest College Brent got involved in the oil patch near Lloydminster. Over a span of 15 years he and his family grew, develop and operated a trucking business, along with smaller businesses in transloading and transportation. In early 2014 they sold their business and Brent stayed on as the General Manager for 2 years. From here he transitioned into the Ag industry and worked with Archer Daniels Midland in Lloydminster as a grain buyer and logistics lead. In 2018 Brent joined the Just Solutions Ag team as a sales rep and now leads our team. Brent is a licensed insurance broker in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta.

Our Board of Directors
Greg Stewart - Managing Director

Greg is actively involved in the strategic direction and provides valuable advice to the management team. He is the past President and Chief Executive Officer at Farm Credit Canada (FCC) until retirement in 2014. Greg’s leadership and agriculture background were instrumental in developing the client profile of FCC that led to a long track record of success. Greg holds a Chartered Director designation from the Directors College and a B.S. (Agriculture) from the University of Manitoba. He continues to serve as a Board member for The Bank of Canada, Synergy AG and Habitat for Humanity Canada.

Bryce Tingle - Board Chair

Bryce is the co-founder and partner of Tingle Merrett LLP, focused on securities and corporate finance for growth companies. He has held adjunct teaching positions at the University of Calgary (2005 to the present), University of Alberta, and Brigham Young University. He is a Member of the Securities Advisory Committee (SAC) of the Alberta Securities Commission and a past Chair of the Business Law (Alberta) subsection of the Canadian Bar Association. Bryce has served on various public and private corporate and charitable boards.

Jim Taylor - Director

Jim is the Chairman and co-founder of Avrio Capital based in Calgary, Alberta financing growth companies. Previously, Jim was the Vice President for Farm Credit Canada and was responsible for launching and building the growth equity and venture capital division, FCC Ventures. Under Jim’s leadership FCC Ventures grew from a new start-up to a national program. In addition to Jim’s years of experience in venture capital, growth equity, mezzanine and subordinated debt markets Jim spent time as an operator of a small manufacturing company in Calgary. Jim has an MBA from the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto and a degree in Economics from the University of Alberta.

Rodney Schoettler - Director

Rodney is the Chief Executive Officer of Saskatchewan Municipal Hail Insurance (SMHI) after joining the company in 1987 as Chief Operating Officer. SMHI is part of an insurance group of companies that writes business in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. SMHI is the leading provider of spot loss hail insurance coverage to the prairie producers and currently writes over 50% of the crop hail business written in Saskatchewan. Rodney obtained a diploma in Local Government Administration at the University of Regina.
